Beeswax Polish

About Beeswax Polish

Beeswax Polish is a natural wax used to feed and protect bare wooden surfaces, as well as varnished, oiled or painted wood. It seals and protects all types of wood, giving a long lasting, durable, and natural looking shine. Our Beeswax Polish will also repair minor knocks and scratches in woodwork as well as protecting from moisture and staining.

Beeswax acts as a protective coating on the surface, enhancing the wood’s shine and helping keep it look better for longer.

How to use Beeswax Polish

Our Beeswax Polish is great for cleaning wood, as well as polishing wood.

Ensure the surface is dust free. Apply the Beeswax Polish onto a cloth and rub into the wooden surface, following the direction of the grain. Leave for five minutes then buff over with a cloth to restore the lustre.

The Beeswax Polish cleans and polishes in one simple application!

Additional coats can be applied for extra protection or if applying to bare wood.

Maintenance with Beeswax

Beeswax Polish should be reapplied once a year for maintenance of furniture. When properly protected, Beeswax Polish will cause liquids to bead up on the surface in the form of globules; a good indication of when the Beeswax needs to be reapplied is when liquids start to lie flat on the surface instead of beading up.

Using Beeswax Polish - FAQ

Q. How long does beeswax take to dry?

A. About five minutes. If it's a humid day, leave it a little longer. Then take a clean cloth and buff the beeswax to shine.

Q. How often should you use beeswax on furniture?

A. Hardwoods such as Oak, Mahogany and Walnut should be treated regularly with Beeswax Polish; three of four times a year will keep the wood in best condition.

One benefit of beeswax for wood is that it repels water, causing the water to bead up like a globule on the surface. When this stops happening and the water lies flat, this is a great indication that you need to reapply the Beeswax Polish.

Q. Can I use beeswax on varnished wood?

A. Yes, beeswax can be applied over all types of wood finishes including varnishes, stains, oils and paints. In these instances you would be using the beeswax for extra protection of the wood and to polish the wood to your desired shine.

Q. How does beeswax waterproof wood?

A. Beeswax penetrates the grain forming an attractive polished finish. Any water that touches the wood will bead up on the surface.

Q. What is the difference between your Beeswax Polish and Wood Wax & Polish?

A. Both products can be used on all wooden surfaces. The beeswax polish is a traditional wax polish and so is a harder wax, and is applied and buffed to a shine. The Wax & Polish is more cream-like in consistency as it is mixed with oil, making it easier to use.

The main difference is the Beeswax Polish will protect and enhance without changing the colour, whereas the Wax & Polish will soak further into the wood darkening it slightly, in a similar way that a wood oil would do.

Q. Is beeswax furniture polish better than using spray polishes?

A. Spray polishes contain silicones that cause a build up on furniture and wooden items. After several applications you might start to notice the furniture can become smeary when touched. Using beeswax to polish the furniture will give you a lovely polished finish, but without the streaks or smears you get with a spray polish.

Q. Why is beeswax recommended for wood?

A. Beeswax has many benefits to wood, not only does it help maintain and keep wood in good condition, but it also cleans wood, polishes and protects the wood from stains and spills. This is why beeswax is one of the most popular furniture polishes.
